This policy explains what the ChipNexa Home app and the ChipNexa service (together, "the service") collect, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. "ChipNexa", "we" and "us" mean ChipNexa, which runs the service.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Account: email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash, never readable), optional name, time zone | To sign you in, confirm your email, run schedules at your local time, and contact you about your account |
| Your devices: device identifier, name, model, firmware version, online status and last-seen time, and each device's current settings and state (for example which switches are on), schedules and scenes | To show and control your devices, run your schedules and rules, and deliver firmware updates |
| Homes, rooms and rules you create, including a home's location if you set one | To group your devices and to work out sunrise and sunset for rules that use them |
| Sharing: the email address of anyone you share with or who shares with you | To give them the access you chose |
| Notification token for your phone, and a history of the notifications sent to you | To send you alerts you asked for (device alerts, schedule and update notices). History is kept for 30 days |
| Sign-in sessions and short-lived pairing and verification codes | To keep you signed in securely and to add devices to your account |
| Server logs: IP address, time and type of request | To keep the service secure and fix problems. Kept only as long as needed for that |
Account and device data is kept while your account exists. Notification history is deleted after 30 days; verification and pairing codes expire within minutes. When you delete your account it is removed as described below. Copies may remain in backups until those backups expire.
In the app, go to Settings → Delete account. This un-pairs every device you own (so it can be set up again by anyone), removes your account, your homes and rooms, rules, schedules stored with your account, shares, sessions, notification tokens and history. It cannot be undone. You can also ask us by email: see Delete your account.
Traffic between the app, your devices and our servers is encrypted. Each device has its own certificate. Passwords are stored only as hashes. On your home network the app talks to your devices directly, in an encrypted session.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask for a summary of your personal data, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw consent (by deleting your account), nominate someone to act for you, and raise a grievance. Write to hello@chipnexa.in from your account's email address; we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
The service is meant for adults. If you are under 18, use it only with a parent or guardian's consent and involvement.
If you link your ChipNexa account to Google Home, you let Google control and read the devices in your account by voice and in the Google Home app.
What we share with Google when you link
What Google sends us
How linking works. You sign in on a ChipNexa page and approve. We give Google a token that lets it act for your account, limited to voice control. It cannot be used to sign in to the ChipNexa app or to change your account.
Your choices
What we keep. We keep a record that you linked Google (the account and the date) for as long as the link exists. We do not store your Google Home voice requests; Google handles them under its own privacy policy.
Google's side. Google processes what you say and the device information we send under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Contact. hello@chipnexa.in
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
